Subject: Tough Paint
John,
I recall you describing some really tough paint that you applied to
your scout. What was that, and how well did it work for you?
Ken
Reply:
Ken I used Hammerite, its an epoxy paint and I have painted oil pans, valve
covers, Intake manifolds, floorboards, and even the outside of my scout
with it, as well as bumpers and grills. It works great as it resists
scratches and rock chips better than anything else i have tried. The secret
is in its paint, it has fiberglass and metal flakes which add to its
durability. It is made in Tacoma WA. and you can probley call information
for the 206 area code and get the #. If not I will dig up the company info.
It leaves a cool looking finish when applied right. You need to spray it
with a old primer gun as the nozzel will wear out, BUT IT CAN BE PAINTED ON
WITH a foam pad, wich is my favorite. It also netrilizes rust as well.
Happy coating
