Greg, Thanks for the suggestion.  I do have a heat riser, and it seems to
work right.  I experienced that problem about 18 years ago, and this is
different.  It seems like the mixture is too rich in that intermediate time.
It's ideal at startup and when total warm.  In near or sub freezing temps.
it takes about 2 -3 miles to idle smooth.  Due to the electric choke, when
it is thoroughly warmed up, if I let it set for 10 minutes, the choke
engages and it starts a bit slow from eccess fuel. I don't know if that is
related.
