Rocky,

I've never done exactly what you are asking so take my response with a
grain of salt.  I have converted a '74 IFS 200 to 4wd and I only had to
drill one hole (for the passenger side brake line/hose).  All T-case
holes were already there.  My understanding on the front springs on I
beam vs driving front axles is that the mounts have to be move just as
you suspect.  Jim Grammer usually chimes in with a very valuable 2c.
since he has investigated this pretty closely and maybe even done it.

Here are a couple of questions to you guys who have done this to your
pickup or t-all. I am in the process of doing this to a customers truck.
Does the rear spring mounts on the front axle have to be moved forward
or will the 4x springs go back in the same location as the springs on
the I beam axle? Is a 2WD frame predrilled for the t-case hangers of do
they have to be punched?
