RE: [alfa] 91 Spider won't start
Raplh -
Besides checking for all the obvious things, air leaks, disconnected
connectors, reseating various connectors, bad grounds, etc.
What is the voltage across the battery while the engine is cranking? This is
fairly critical, if it is a little too low, no spark.
Next I'd check the RPM/TDC sensor, if this were bad the ECU wouldn't know
that the engine is turning.
Are there any codes stored in the ECU? That could give a clue too, however
if the battery has been disconnected recently, any codes would have been
erased.
I'm not sure if the '91 is the same as the earlier cars, there might be a
'main' relay that powers up the ECU, and the fuel pump relay. If this is bad
or not getting power and/or ground, no fuel, and no spark.
Let us know what you find ...
Jeff

Subject: [alfa] 91 Spider won't start
Been trying to get a friends 91 Spider to start.
Engine turns over fine - good volts at battery
No fuel flow - even when flap on AFM opened.
No volts at fuel pump
No spark
We suspect brain-fade? Any thoughts?
