i should also mention that titles and registrations do get screwed up by
motor vehicle departments from time to time. i have now solved the
mystery of why my 1974 GTV is listed as a 73 on the title and
registration. someone at NY DMV screwed it up after i bought
the car, and i hadn't checked their work. they've admitted it was
their mistake and offered to fix the title for free, which is awfully
un-DMVlike of them
