Re: [alfa] shipping car parts

Ben,

Parts can often attract duties and other taxes from the Australian
authorities, though it seems to depend on the day as to whether you get
stung.

Check with Customs B4 parting with your money. I also believe there is a
difference between used and new parts.

I know you should NEVER import an old vehicle to Australia for 'spares' but
import it as a 'car'. It attracts less taxes and the chassis number can be
resurrected at a later date.

It may be worthwhile to contact one of the vehicle import brokers as they
often have container space which while slower, may be a lot less expensive
for heavy or bulky spares.
