Humm. Could be a loose wire or contact in the switch. Clean it out real 
well, then take a small flashlight and look in there and see if you can see 
anything broken or abnormal before you remove the assembly. Maybe try 
disconnecting the left then right turn signal wire to see if one of them 
disconnected silences the flasher unit. I maybe just a contact in the signal 
switch that's loose and could be pinched back down with a small screwdriver 
and needlenose pliers.
