They are just glued on to the back of the cluster. When you
remove the cluster, and then the gauges from the cluster,
you are left with the cluster pods and a clear plastic plate
seemingly glued to the pod. It's actually more like melted
plastic in spots to hold it on. Some of the spots will 
probably already be undone. You could remove the plastic
plate (film?) and smooth out the spots and re-glue something
similar. I doubt originals are available. I got some thin
clear plastic from Tap Plastics (a plastics store here in
California) and I plan on cutting out some circles and
gluing them on, but I haven't gotten around to it yet....
