Yes, as others have mentioned, the Alfa 6 did indeed have a front mounted tranny.
However, I have been told from a South African on this list that in his country at least, it is very hard to find an Alfa 6 with anything but an automatic tranny. I suspect that other markets are not much different.
From what I understand, gearboxes (and rear ends?) from the 1980's Maserati Biturbo is the most obvious choice when putting an Alfa V6 into a 105 series car.
