Re: [alfa] brake light upgrade
Hi Obie,
Thanks for the info. After my initial Google search, it occurred to me to
search on eBay for "brake light" and found a couple of interesting items
that follow the approach you mention, that of flashing a number of times
before going to steady red. One of these units is even programmable to
allow the user to select the number of flashes that occur before going to
steady red condition. Others offer an alternative of multi-segments which
light up an increasing number of segments (starting from each end) as the
brake pressure is increased until, at maximum braking, the entire length of
segments are lit, forming a complete line of red segments as the third brake
lite. There is still nothing I have been able to find that duplicates the
increase in frequency of the blinking directly proportional to the amount of
brake pressure and deceleration that was the function of the original
concept. It seems that the increase in the rate of blinking would be the
most compelling feature to cause the following car to realize that the
deceleration was increasing and not just a casual tap on the brake pedal. I
wish now that I had bought one when it was available. Thanks for the
suggestion anyway.
Best regards,
Brad
