[alfa] re Non-hydraulic hydraulic tensioners

I learned a lot from this very interesting thread, but was initially stumped when I came across the phrase "non-hydraulic hydraulic tensioner," which sorta reminded my of the current "jobless job recovery."  A closer reading, and Joe Elliot's excellent diagram, made the concept perfectly clear, but I'm still stumped on the "jobless job recovery" thing.  Maybe I should e-mail the President for an explanation.
