Hey, I am coming into this OT thread a little late, hope you do not mind...

I have been meaning to replace my cheap Radio-Shaq digital mutlimeter
with something better for a while now. My father has a Fluke that I
used to borrow allot when I lived near my parents (actually, he had
two Flukes, but wouldn't give me either of them!).
Anyway, I would be interested in what else you people might recommend?

Biba mentioned Electronic Specialties.
I found the Electronic Specialties 585K on Froogle for only $73.00
In contract the best price for a Fluke 179 (w/kit) was $229.00

Biba did a pretty good job of selling me on the ES 585K, and at that
price it seems rather tasty. :^)
Biba, does the ES 585K do capacitance measurements?
If so, I can't see what the Fluke 179 has on the ESI tool (besides the
back-light) for me.
