[alfa] re: A GTV6 question...
ECU, fans, cold start injector, and temp gauge all use different sensors.
My GTV-6 burns a quart of oil about every 150 miles now, so I think
that makes me some sort of expert on fouled plugs. I've concluded
that NGK and Denso last longest in the presence of oil in the
combustion chambers.
As far as your actual problem...is your oxygen sensor working
properly (how old is it?)? Connections on the thermostat housing
clean? Airflow meter flap moving freely? Plug wires in decent
shape? Off the top of my head, I'd think plugs could be fouled by a
rich mixture, oil in the combustion chambers, or incomplete
combustion.

Subject: [alfa] A GTV6 question...
Hello all,
I have an '84 GTV6 which seems to foul spark plugs pretty rapidly. I
had Golden Lodge plugs in for about two months before they were
changed out for Bosch Platinums (not by me, mechanic said they were
wet fouled). I replaced them again in late January (after several
months, not sure how long exactly). I am already experiencing harder
starting, and rough idle until I blip the throttle a few times (just
enough for it to "clear out", and not at high rpms). Recently I have
also noticed that my radiator fans seem to be turning on later
(higher temp) than they used to. Could these two be related? I am
thinking that perhaps some sort of temp sensor might be going out
and giving an incorrect value to something (ECU?). Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Josh
