Re: [alfa] Spider Brakes

Hi Andy:

Not normal, in fact exactly the opposite of normal. The pistons in the rear calipers aren't properly retracting, and I'd first suspect improper rebuild kits. Did you ATE kits? A few years ago I purchased non-original front and rear kits from IAP, and they ended up in the trash. I think Andy Kress at Performatek sells the proper ATE kits. Second guess would be a sticking compensator valve, and once again, IAP sells the wrong part for a Spider (which may be OK for the V6 cars). Try and find a good used one, perhaps from a fellow Digester or APE. Third guess would be the flexible hose between the chassis and rear axle. It may have delaminated internally, blocking fluid return from the calipers. No fourth guess, as I think that covers all the bases.

Subject: [alfa] Spider Brakes

I rebuilt my brakes this past winter. Everything is working fine, but
the rear wheels get hot after a 30 minute drive. The fronts are warm.
The rear wheels get dusty sooner than the fronts too. Is this typical
Alfa, or should I be concerned.
