Of course it's right. How could they be wrong? I'm sure they've never sold
a defective filter, therefore every problem must lie elsewhere. It
certainly helps with the liability, from their perspective.

It depends what the real problem is. What *is* your oil pressure?
This could be a symptom of high pressure, it could also be a defective
filter. The filter seller will of course deny any problems with the filter,
because they don't want to have to pay for your possibly ruined engine.
I'd save the old filter. Pop a new one on, and watch it closely. Measure
the pressure, keep your eye on things. Chances are you don't have a
problem..

No, but you might assume you had a bad filter. I don't think a rebuilt
engine has anything to do with it.
