[alfa] Re: Concorso Crowds/Traffic (you can beat them)
We went, too, but we had the secret weapon, which I heartily endorse...
We entered a car, (our white '59 spider veloce) for which we were allowed
early placement on Thursday between 1 and 5... drove up with a friend to drop
off the car about 4pm, no traffic, got to see a lot of stuff that afternoon
without ANY crowds.
It gets better... your early entry gets you preferential parking for another
car for Friday, now you come in early and from an uncongested entrance (we
had no wait at all) to close in parking. If that's still not good enough, you
get cheap entry for two, as well (can't remember how much, but I think
roughly two-for -one), and even free coffee at the exhibitor's area...
All in all, worked great, we felt like we saw everything and were out and
over to the Quail by noon (how about 20 Ferrari 250 GTO's of the thirty
something total, in one place?) Second year for the Quail, more/bettercars this
year. It's pricey but great, more like a really upscale garden party with a few
of your best gazillionaire friends and their cars than the Concorso mob
scene. I'm still on for both, though... see you next year!
