What kind of fuel pump does your car have?
I have Facet fuel pump(s) on my Spider. I'd rather not open the Facet
debate again, however the pump has an internal filter that can be cleaned.
I don't think a too-large fuel line would cause the problem you were having,
however the fuel filter certainly might. Can't remember, fuel filters might
have been my original guess to your problem.
